Shedding new light on the detection of free radicals, including reactive oxygen species (ROS), in live biological system is the main goal of our project. Confocal Raman micro spectroscopy gives information about the vibrations of chemical bonds in any biological substances e.g. lipids, proteins, DNA, RNA. We will apply this technique to understand the mechanisms of oxidative stress in live cancer cells.
